I enjoyed the Kelly Marie Tran discussion.
The misunderstanding to me comes when it was said, “I wish I had someone better to look at.” That’s subjective. Better looking??? To whose standard? I assume Hollywood’s. There are other cultures that think women with “a few extra pounds” are attractive, but not Hollywood. Or a shade of skin color. If your daughter wanted to be actress and she wasn’t the “standard” of today’s big screen, would to tell her to change her passion? Thicker skin doesn’t mean acceptance and what most people want is change to these concepts.
If you haven’t been felt like an outcast it’s time to do some traveling. Get uncomfortable. It’ll teach you more about who you are.
I will never be the standard of media’s “beautiful” and I battle myself daily to accept it, that it’s okay to be me and hearing someone who feels the same as I is emplowering.
